Stashbusting week in review

Funny... I didn't think I accomplished much because I haven't cut much. But I did put the final 3 borders on a Quilt For An Hour quilt... they were precut. I also cut the strips for step 5 of Bonnie's mystery quilt. That was a little over 1.5 yards for the mystery quilt.

On the other side of the equation I purchased 12-13 yards of QS quality flannel pieces for backs for current projects (mystery quilt and a bargello gift quilt). I don't have much flannel in my stash. The price is what sold me .....$3 per pound.... there is approx. 3 yards per pound. With one exception all the pieces are at least 1 yard each.

I agree with Judy L .... some weeks it doesn't seem like the stash in the cabinet is shrinking because what I'm cutting is already out/grouped with the project. Keryn had a great idea. She keeps a journal/notebook ON her cutting table and as she cuts, she tracks the amount. I found a mostly empty composition book... it's new home is my cutting table.

Mystery Quilters gathering

Yesterday 6 of us gals who discovered each other on the yahoo group quiltvillechat met at a LQS and followed up with lunch at a nearby restaurant. Here is a photo of us before the food arrived. Photo credit goes to Tammy and her Altoid camera. :c)From left to right is me, Janine, Tammy, Kathy, Terry and Carmen. It was great to get to know the gals a bit and compare our mystery projects. The color choices are so different so it will be fun to watch these quilts grow.

For some reason, borders are one of my least favorite parts of the piecing process, so anytime I get borders added to a quilt, I feel great! So should you! :-)

Looks like you all had fun. I wasn't tempted to do the mystery...to much other stuff going on and I don't do mystery quilts anyway (I guess I'm too controlling) but it's been fun seeing everyone's progress.
